“Leadership Dorchester was one of the greatest investments I’ve ever made. I learned a great deal about our community’s leadership and history. I’ve become good friends with many of our classmates and watched them become leaders in our chamber of commerce and civic organizations as a result of their involvement in Leadership Dorchester. It’s an outstanding program and I’d recommend it to anyone interested in helping our community, meeting new people and improving their leadership skills.”

The
Leadership Dorchester program is an intensive county-wide
leadership development program sponsored by the Greater Summerville/Dorchester
County Chamber. This program has been designed to give potential emerging
leaders the knowledge and skill sets they will need to successfully provide
community leadership and regional direction in the future. The program
is ideal for business and industry as well as the new leaders in the public
sector, non-profits, governmental agencies, and the other professions.
The Leadership Dorchester program is designed for outstanding individuals
who desire to sharpen their leadership skills and gain a greater understanding
of the region's economy and community networks. The curriculum is taught
by local community leaders in order to prepare future leaders for tomorrow.

“Becoming a part of Leadership Dorchester Class 2009 afforded me the opportunity to establish new friendships with people of a like mind---we all love Summerville and its surrounding communities and wanted to learn and DO more to help it grow and prosper. The information presented expanded my knowledge of the history and traditions of the community as well as hearing from civic leaders what the present and future look like! The personal investment of time and resources was returned to me many times over in the value of knowledge and relationships that will last a lifetime.”
